Go Online to Get Around Ramsey County

Internet technology keeps making travel more convenient and efficient. Route-planning sites have made folding road maps practically obsolete. Now governments are getting in on the act.

Ramsey County and its municipalities just launched GoRamsey Communities Mapping Portal, full of photos and maps of all county and local parks and recreation facilities. It offers a comprehensive list of places to picnic, swim, bike and golf, including walking and biking trails and their distances.

Also on the site, you can report problems like potholes, blown light bulbs and graffiti to 14 park and rec departments in the county.

It's a project of Active Living Ramsey Communities, a health initiative that aims to "promote and create environments that are safe and convenient for everyone to integrate physical activity into their daily routine." Public outreach like GoRamsey is an important part of that effort.
